Head Coach - Full Marathon & Advanced Training Program

Before joining Phoenix Fit I never ran a race longer than a 5K. This season I will be running 3 more marathons, a 50 miler and hopefully a 100 miler.  The training and coaching of Phoenix Fit really helped me embrace running. The friends I have made through Phoenix Fit are amazing and will last a lifetime. I am looking forward to coaching you to your marathon goal.

Head Coach - Advanced Training Program

I started running in college and would always just run on my own. In fact, I always thought I would hate running with a group. I couldn’t have been more wrong! I joined Phoenix Fit in 2010 when I transplanted here from Nebraska as a way to meet people. What I didn’t expect was that Phoenix Fit would change my life in so many positive ways. Not only did the group help me figure out how run my first marathon without dying, this program, more specifically the friends I have made through Phoenix Fit, has also motivated me to try things I never thought I could ever accomplish.

I will be coaching the Advanced Training Program (ATP) for the second year in a row and my goal is to pass on the motivation and encouragement that I have been so lucky to receive these past 6 years. Looking forward to meeting new members and seeing returning faces for the 2016 season!

Organizer - Phoenix FIT

It is hard to believe that this will be my 11th year as organizer with Phoenix Fit and my 13th year associated with the program. The time has flown by and it seems like just yesterday that I showed up for my first meeting a little nervous that I was going to be intimidated by hard-core runners. That preconception could not have been farther from the truth. Everyone I have met in association with Phoenix Fit has been friendly and supportive. The coaches are approachable and the members are eager to share their running experience and learn from one another.

Until I joined Phoenix Fit I had spent most of my running time solo. I have since come to appreciate the benefits of running with a group. Not only have I learned many tips from coaches and fellow runners, I have made friendships that will last a lifetime.


Dauna Williams

Head Coach - Half Marathon Walking Group

I joined Phoenix Fit in 2010 as a WALKER and completed my very first half marathon! I have never been much of a runner, walking is my preferred choice of exercise. However, to my amazement after the extensive training with Phoenix fit, I was able to walk and run throughout the race. Before I joined Phoenix Fit, I was not very active. The group support encouraged me each week to keep coming back so that I could achieve my goal of participating in the marathon. I am healthier now than I have been in many years. Luckily for me, I was led to join the right team that welcomes and accepts members of all fitness levels. I look forward to meeting, and walking with some of you this season.

Daniel Garza

Head Coach - Half Marathon

I have always been a runner, a casual runner. To this day I am not in love with the sport. Since joining Phoenix Fit 13 years ago, I have learned to enjoy (not love) running. I have run in numerous 5Ks, 10Ks and fun runs. I have completed 10+ marathons and many half marathons as a Phoenix Fit member. I am over 50 years old and I run better now than when I was younger.
